To use the Advanced Search, simply click on the "Advanced Search" link on the left side of the window - this will open up the search form.
![]() Creator You may use a word or words from a person's name ("Wyeth") or you may use a culture ("Greek"). Title You may use a word or words from the title ("Victor Hugo"). Unlike the Simple Search, the Advanced Search allows you to use any words in the title, not just the beginning words. Type You may use a descriptive word for the type of object ("photograph" or "jewelry"). Materials/Technique You may use words describing the technique ("woodcut"). Date You may use a specific year ("1927") or a range of years ("1915-1930"). Subject You may use a word describing the general subject ("fruit"). Owner Name You may use the first word or words of the current owner's name ("Smithsonian"). Owner Place You may use the current location of the item ("New York"). ID The AMICO identifier ("SAAM.1966.49.1") Keyword You may use a word or words distinctive to the material ("still life fruit"). And/Or/Not This option works just like it sounds. If you wish to see all paintings of roses, in the first section choose "Subject" and type in "rose," choose "AND," and in the second area choose "Type" and type in "painting." If you wish to see all images of roses or lilies, choose "Subject" for both sections, type in "rose" in one and "lily" in the other, and choose "OR." If you wish to see all images by Georgia O'Keeffe that are not located in New York, choose "Subject" of "O'Keeffe," "NOT" and "Owner Place" of "New York."
