Business & Industrial Libraries
Business & Industrial libraries are generally contained within the same building as the corporation they are owned by for easy access to the employees they serve. The materials contained within the library relate directly to the company's products, services and areas of research. They may be used for technical, legal or marketing research and reference, or may be used to gain a competitive edge over other businesses in the same field. Business Librarians must be intimately familiar with what the company does and what its leaders wish it to be in order to build the strongest possible collection. These librarians often take a proactive approach to librarianship, gathering materials that they believe will benefit users - sometimes before the users are even aware those materials exist. They sometimes act as researchers as well, analyzing information and compiling it into reports for the corporation's use.
