Humanities Libraries

Humanities Libraries are generally associated with other institutions such as museums, non-profit organizations, or educational facilities. The subject matter contained within is very specialized for the library's clientele and may cover visual or tactile arts and crafts, music, theatre, dance, film, etc. Depending upon the nature and purpose of the library, its clientele may be restricted to staff and organization members, or it may be open to researchers, students, and sometimes the general public. Because of the varied nature of the subject matter, Humanities Library collections may contain books, rare documents, photographs, sheet music, hand-written manuscripts, botanical prints, visual and audio recordings, and other assorted materials which may require a great deal of effort in cataloging, storing and preserving.
